GOOD LIVING – HELEN GREENWOOD
CREME BRULEE PATISSERIE, BELLEVUE HILL
10am Wednesday –
A writer and his publisher have coffee and croissants in the bay windows while local hostesses pick up their order of salmon coulibiac.
In this cosy shop and bakery, Nira Fernando, the Sri Lankan-born, Swiss-trained master of everything to do with pastry, turns out superb cakes, like his pineapple wine cream bomb, wonderful pies (chicken, beef bourguignon and ratatouille), rolls, quiches and biscuits.
Don’t go home without: Hot bread and butter pudding or the warm pear tart.
